Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 16, 2026

This policy explains what personal information Comfy (askcomfy.com, “Comfy”, “we”, “us”) collects, why, and the choices you have. Comfy is a guide and comparison publisher. We are not an insurer or broker, and we never ask for your insurance details.

The short version

  • If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address. That’s it.
  • If you email us, we see what you send and use it to reply.
  • Our calculators and checklists run in your browser. What you type into them is not sent to us.
  • We don’t sell your personal information.

What we collect

  • Newsletter: your email address, collected only when you subscribe.
  • Email you send us: your email address and anything you choose to include.
  • Technical data: standard information such as browser type, device and pages visited, collected by our hosting provider and basic, aggregated site statistics to keep the site secure and working.

Please don’t send us government ID numbers, driver’s licence numbers, policy numbers, banking or payment details, or health information. We don’t need them and won’t ask for them.

Things stored only on your device

When you choose Canada or the US on a comparison page, your browser remembers that choice in local storage (a setting called comfy-region) so the page opens on your region next time. It holds only “ca” or “us”, it is never sent to us, and you can clear it at any time by clearing your browser’s site data. The tools on our site work the same way: the numbers you enter stay in your browser.

Partner sites

Partner links take you to other companies’ websites. Anything you share there, including quote details, is collected by that company under its own privacy policy, not ours. Partners may tell us that a visit or referral came from Comfy so we can be paid, but they don’t share your quote details with us.

How we use information

  • To send the newsletter you asked for.
  • To reply to your emails.
  • To understand which guides are useful and improve the site.
  • To protect the site against spam and abuse.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers that help us run the site and send email, such as our website host and newsletter provider (WordPress.com and Jetpack, operated by Automattic), or when the law requires it. These providers may store data outside your province, state or country.

How long we keep it

We keep your newsletter email until you unsubscribe, and emails you send us only as long as needed to help you and keep basic records.

Your choices and rights

You can unsubscribe using the link in any newsletter. Depending on where you live, privacy laws (such as Canada’s PIPEDA and the privacy laws of some US states) may give you the right to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you. Email us and we’ll help, whatever your location.

Children

Comfy is meant for adults. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children.
